The opportunities available depend entirely upon your individual profile, study programme completed, and the current application location. We have listed below the options that are commonly used by our graduated students. Please understand that additional documentation requirements apply and must be met as part of the official application process.
If you have successfully completed a degree in Germany while holding a valid visa or a residence permit under § 16b or § 16c, you may apply for a residence permit to seek employment for up to 18 months.
As proof of completion, you can submit your degree certificate IF available, final transcript, and an official confirmation of successful completion (Abschlussbescheinigung) issued by the Post Study Affairs team in Berlin.
If you have completed a German university degree—or hold a recognised or comparable foreign university degree (Anabin record or Statement of Comparability)—and have a job offer for qualified employment in Germany, you may apply for this residence permit.
Your employer must have a business establishment in Germany, and approval from the Federal Employment Agency may be required.
If you have a German, recognised or comparable foreign university degree and a concrete job offer in Germany for at least six months, you may apply for an EU Blue Card. Your employment must meet the applicable minimum salary requirement.
If you have completed your university degree and/or gained professional experience, you may apply for an Opportunity Card from abroad. This will act as a job search visa and will allow you to come to Germany to search for jobs, attend interviews, and build contacts with prospective employers. It is generally issued for upto a year by the German mission abroad.
