CROUS Scholarships

  • What it is?

The CROUS (Centre Régional des Œuvres Universitaires et Scolaires) is a major actor of student life in France. It is a public service that is organized by region.

    Paris has its own Crous: 39 avenue Georges Bernanos, 75005 Paris, + 33 1 40 51 62 00

Its mission is to foster and improve student life conditions in Paris. In that perspective, the Crous offers various types of scholarships to students, among which need-based scholarships.

To get further information, a guide is available here.

Please Note: French public institutes and the Erasmus+ programme also offer a large number of scholarships for foreign students to help them finance their studies in France and Europe.

  • Estimate my CROUS level

The Crous need-based scholarships are awarded based on your parents' income* (or yours if you are financially independent), your number of brothers and sisters, and how far you are from your parents' home, home town or home country. These criteria are combined to determine a Crous level (échelon Crous): the higher your Crous level is, the bigger the amount of the scholarship will be!

You can simulate your Crous level (échelon Crous) thanks to the simulator below (in French only).

To make this simulation, you'll need :

    • Your parents' income from 2022 as displayed on their last tax assessment
    • An approximation of the distance (in kilometers) between your campus and your family home

    Simulate my CROUS level

  • How do I apply?

The annual campaign is not open yet for the academic year 2025/2026. Once open, here is the process to apply:

    • Fill in your "Dossier Social Etudiant" (DSE)
    • Gather and upload your supporting documents

The processing time can take between 1 to 3 months. Follow the status of your application by clicking here.

Once your file is processed, you will receive a "notification conditionnelle de bourse"* by email. It is important to upload it on your Registration File so the ESCP can validate your registration!

Finally, the Crous will send you a "notification définitive"* and start transfering your monthly grant.

*Please note that these documents must be issued by the Paris academy. If not, we won't be able to validate it and you may not receive your scholarship.

  • Other advantages

The grant allows you to benefit from other advantages:

    • You are exempted from paying the CVEC (don't forget to upload your "attestation d'acquittement" on your Registration File)
    • Priority is given to your file when applying for a Crous accommodation
    • You are automatically eligible to apply for the ESCP need-based scholarship (only for Bachelor in Management, Master in Management and DEAMIE programmes). However the ESCP scholarship is not given automatically to CROUS scholarship holders. Every application and situation are studied in detail.
