Degree Award

Students obtain the Degree upon successful academic progress after passing all courses and validating the required work experience.

The Programme Board examines academic progress at the end of each semester during the Examinations Boards and at the end of each academic year during the Annual Programme Review Board (APRB).

  • Who awards the degree?

The Associate Dean chairs the Programme Board upon the mandate of the Dean for Academic and International Affairs. It comprises:

    • the Dean for Academic and International Affairs,
    • the Associate Dean,
    • the Director of Studies Europe,
    • the Local Academic Directors.
    • Optionally:
      • the Course Coordinators
      • the programme’s Instructors
      • other qualified School members
      • other External Examiners

The decisions of the Board are communicated in a synthetic form to the student representatives, who are invited to the meeting to provide their feedback.

  • How are the Programme Baord's decisions communicated?

The Director of Studies Europe or the Programme Offices communicates the Board’s decisions to students, who are informed of their obligations yet to be fulfilled and whether they are authorised to progress to the next academic year.

  • Which are the possible outcomes?

Depending on the results of Year 3 students, the Programme Board can make the following decisions:

    • Grant the degree to the students who meet the programme requirements
    • Depending on their results, students can receive their degree with honours (when their final mark score - GPA - is in the best 35% of the cohort) or high honours (when their final mark score - GPA - is in the best 10% of the cohort).
      • The average grade is calculated based on a student’s results for each course, weighted by the number of ECTS credits granted for each course.
      • Students who have had a disciplinary sanction under the School rules during their studies cannot, under any circumstances, receive this distinction.
    • Deny the degree - Students who have not met the necessary requirements will only receive a school certificate.
