BSc - Choice of Third Year Campus & Elective Courses

The Third Year of the Bachelor curriculum includes 5 mandatory courses across all campuses (International Economics, CSR & Business Ethics, Operations Management & Business Information Systems, Writing Skills, and Business Game), alongside 6 management electives, 2 liberal arts electives, 1 language course, and a thesis, for a total of 60 ECTS, evenly distributed across the Fall and Spring semesters.

The 6 management electives vary by campus, reflecting the professors’ areas of expertise, the campus’ geographic context, and market dynamics. Students will take 2 electives in the Fall semester and 4 in the Spring, with each elective lasting 24 hours and worth 3 ECTS.

Management electives are grouped across campuses into two main curricula:

Majors (London, Madrid, Turin):

A major includes a block of management electives on one single subject across semesters. For example, Corporate Finance and Investment Banking in both S5 and S6.

Examples of Major by campus:

  • London: Major in Trading and Investment
  • Madrid: Major in Entrepreneurship & Digital Marketing
  • Turin:
    • Major in Corporate Finance & Investment Banking,
    • Major in Luxury Strategy & Leadership,
    • Major in Consulting & Digital Business Strategy

General Management (Berlin, London, Turin, Paris):

Includes options for blocks of electives in Berlin and Turin or a selection of multiple electives in London and Paris.

Examples of General Management Electives:

  • Berlin: Blocks electives in Finance, Marketing, Management, Digitalisation, and Entrepreneurship in different semesters
  • London and Paris: Multiple elective courses from fields such as Finance, Marketing, Sustainability, and HR, taken in parallel within each semester

Please have a look at the POs Blackboard pages of your B1 campus to have further information about the subjects covered at each campus.

⚠️ Attention: From here onwards, this page will distinguish between Major Curriculum (in London, Madrid &Turin) and General Management Curriculum (“Block of electives” in Berlin & Turin or “Multiple Electives” in London & Paris).

  • Deadlines & calendar for campus/curriculum selection

In April, students must select their campus/curriculum for the third year. Choices are split into two groups:

    • Group 1: B1 students in Paris
    • Group 2: B1 students in London and Turin

Campus assignments will be published before the end of May. Specific dates will be confirmed later.

  • Recap table: campus choices, Curricula per campus, number of seats and language requirements

Campus choices Curriculim (General/Major) Number of seats* Language requirements
Berlin General management (Block of Electives) 570
London Major in Trading and Investment 40

*Number of seats are subject to changes

**The apprenticeship programme is not open to non-EU citizens as they would need to be on French territory for a year preceding their B3 in order to obtain the relevant visa/ work permit. However, this does not stop these students from following the alternance rhythm, i.e. class and fixed term contract or class/ internship if the students respect the number of working hours relevant to the agreement concerning their nationality.

  • Student Selection Criteria and Campus Allocation

The Bachelor’s program is designed as a 3-year, 3-campus experience. The third year (B3) must be on a campus different from those attended in the first two years (B1 & B2).

There is no "first-come, first-served" policy for major/general management curriculum selection.

Students must choose their B3 campus/Major or general management curriculum according to the following criteria:

    • Indicate 3 preferred campuses/curricula in order of priority (1st, 2nd, and 3rd).
    • Selections are recommended to include at least two distinct campuses.

Students are expected to prioritise the campus/ curriculum they prefer the most in the following order:

    1. 1st best choice - Campus 1 Major or General Management curricula
    2. 2nd best choice - Campus 2 Major or General Management curricula
    3. 3rd best choice - Campus 3 Major or General Management curricula

Students’ choices will be analysed and prioritised based on academic performance (percentile).

Those interested in finance-related electives (corporate finance, investment banking, etc.) should have strong math grades. If preferences exceed campus capacity, assignments will be based on the best percentile achieved in the first semester.

Students may select multiple curricula (Major or General Management) on the same campus, e.g.:

    1. 1st - Turin Major 1;
    2. 2nd - Turin Major 2;
    3. 3rd -Turin General Management. If a selected option is

If a selected option is unavailable due to capacity limits or prior campus attendance, the student will be redirected to a campus with availability.

  • Language requirements

    Paris: C1 in French

Students with citizenship in a French-speaking country must provide identification (ID documents). Others must submit proof of language proficiency (DELF or TCF).

Students enrolled in an appropriate ESCP language course for Paris must provide proof of their registration.

Madrid : we strongly suggest a good level of Spanish to benefit from exchanges with local entrepreneurs

Berlin, Turin, London do not have language proficiency requirements.

  • Can students repeat a campus?

As stated earlier in the selection criteria the Bachelor’s program is structured as a 3-year, 3-campus journey, so the third year must differ from the first two. Given the expanded options for AY26/27, students can select from Berlin, Paris, London, Madrid, and Turin. Berlin remains the main campus for the third year, with the broadest elective selection.

  • What is the Relevance of Majors (Specializations) for Career Goals?

Majors offer students focused learning in a particular field, which can be beneficial for further studies or specific career aspirations. However, extracurricular activities and internships also provide valuable experience.

  • Is it Possible to Pursue a Career in a Field Different from One’s Major?

The Bachelor’s program is designed to be generalist, providing flexibility for students to pursue diverse careers or study paths.

  • Academic Progression Requirements

How many courses can students fail in B1 or B2 to be allowed to move to the following campus?

    • B1: Maximum of 2 course failures allowed to progress.
    • B2: Maximum of 1 course failure allowed (considering also the passing of all B1 courses).
  • Language FAQ

  • Are third-year students required to take German in Berlin?

Yes. Language courses are aligned with the campus language unless students are already proficient.

  • Can I attend a campus without having studied the language?

Students should study the B2 campus language in B1 and continue with this language in B2, unless they change their campuses choices. In B2, students should also study the language of their B3 campus unless fluent.

  • What is language progression at ESCP?

Students are expected to take two different language courses related to their B2 and B3 campuses, with annual progression in these languages. Here's an example:

Year Campus Language(s) learnt this year
    1 Paris Italian
    2nd Turin Italian & German
    3rd Berlin German
  • How do I align language courses/certificates with campus choices?

Some campuses (Berlin, Turin, London) do not have language proficiency requirements. However, proficiency (C1 in French or B2/C1 in Spanish) is required for Paris and Madrid.

  • Can I take additional language courses that are not included in my GPA?

With permission from the campus language coordinator and available seats, students may take additional courses. The grades of exams taken for additional language courses will not be counted in the GPA.
