PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

  • What are the main components of the Executive MBA?

    The EMBA consists of the following modules:

    • 10 Core Courses
    • 10 Elective Courses
    • 5 International Seminars
    • International Consulting Project (ICP)
    • Thesis + Research Seminar

    Optional: 4 Competence Development Workshops + 4 hours of Individual Coaching

  • Which campuses host EMBA activities?

    The programme operates across five main ESCP campuses:Berlin, London, Madrid, Paris, Turin.

ICP

  • Can I submit more than 1 ICP proposal?

    You can submit more than 1 in the early process but you can only pitch one at the ICP market.

  • When should the teams be created?

    Teams should be created during the ICP market, with a few days after to finalise

  • Is it possible to conclude NDAs between companies, participants, professors?

    Yes, usually companies ask for NDAs, not individuals

  • How much time will be dedicated for the ICP?

    It depends! But for sure a minimum of 175 hours

  • Can I submit an ICP proposal but decide to cancel it if another project is more interesting to me?

    Yes but if you already have several participants interested in your project, bare in mind they will have to find another project as well

  • How do you choose the tutor for the ICP?

    The tutor is selected according to his/her expertise matching the topic of the ICP project and his/her experience with project management or business or executive audiences

  • What is the purpose of the ICP?

    It is a 12–14 month team project to address a real business challenge, applying EMBA knowledge in practice. Participants work with an ESCP tutor and present results to a jury on ICP Day.

CORE COURSES

  • What happens if I miss one of the core courses? How can I catch up?

    Attendance to all core courses are mandatory and you need to justify your absence in case you miss a course. Please note that the rule is the following: Permitted absences: Up to 2 hours for a 12-hour course and up to 3 hours for a 24-hour course. Beyond these limits, you must complete a make-up activity or retake the course.

  • Core course are taught by different professors on the 5 campuses: Is the content the same?

    The syllabus is shared along with learning objectives, the delivery will be different and that should be expected.

  • Are the pre-readings mandatory? Do you provide them?

    If pre-readings are compulsory, it will be mentioned in your instructions posted on Blackboard. Otherwise, of course readings are recommended and no one can force you to read them. Readings can ease the learning process and if cases are used in class, reading them before makes the class discussion more efficient and effective

  • What topics are covered in the core courses?

    Finance, Strategy, Marketing, Economics, Responsible Leadership,Organizational Behavior, Entrepreneurship and Intrapreneurship, Financial Sustainability Reporting, Management Control. One of the final courses is chosen among Supply Chain Management, Geopolitics, or Data Analytics for Managers

  • How are courses graded?

    Each course uses a 20-point scale. A minimum of 10/20 (50%) is required to pass each component.

  • What happens if I submit late assignments?

    Late submissions may be penalised at the professor’s discretion. If the assignment is submitted several weeks after the indicated deadline, penalty points will be applied to the grade.

  • What are the rules regarding plagiarism?

    All sources must be cited, including content generated by AI tools. Plagiarised work receives 0/20 and may trigger disciplinary actions.

ELECTIVES

  • Is there an assignment for every elective?

    Yes, each course of the EMBA, also Elective Courses, requires some sort of validation: this can be an assignment, a group work, a presentation, exam, etc.

  • Are the assignments equivalent to those of core courses in terms of time and difficulty?

    All electives (except Hertie, CEIBS and ESA) are 12 hours long, while Core Courses can be 12 or 24 hours. In terms of difficulty it depends on the subject and the professor. While in Core Courses we try to provide you with fundamental knowledge, some elective target specialised topics.

  • What should I do if I end up on the waiting list for an elective?

    First have a look at the Elective Portfolio and try to see if the same Elective is proposed at other dates or on another campus. If this is not the case we recommend to choose another Elective.

  • Are there pre-readings/pre-work for electives?

    Most Electives require some pre-work. Your programme manager will send you pre-readings if there are any a few weeks before the course start.

  • How do I register to an elective?

    You will register on-line through the Executive MBA intranet (Elective courses choices), the EMBA team will give you all registration details. An elective may not run unless a minimum of 8 participants are registered.

  • Where can I check that I am registered for an elective?

    The right place to check that your registration has been duly processed is in the electives’ selection module from your dashboard accessible through the Intranet: “My Student’s space”.

  • After being registered, can I change my choice of electives?

    Yes, during registration time, I can make one or several changes by myself on the intranet. After registration deadlines, no change will be accepted. A participant registered for an elective is expected to attend all sessions and turn in all required work.

  • Can I sit-in on an elective without validating it?

    No, this is not possible to attend an elective without validating it.

  • Can I attend an elective without being registered?

    No. In accordance with the information given to the professor and for insurance reasons, I have to be registered on the participants’ list.

SEMINARS

  • Is there really an assignment for every seminar? And to which extent?

    Yes, for every EMBA seminar you will have to submit an assignment.

  • Are there pre-readings for seminars?

    Yes, as for every course in the EMBA some pre-work or pre-readings can be required. Your programme manager will send you the pre-readings a few weeks before.

  • Is accommodation included for seminars?

    Hotels are at each participant’s expense when seminars are located at ESCP campuses: Seminar 1 in Paris and seminar 5 in Madrid. Accommodation is paid by ESCP for all seminars located outside ESCP campuses.

  • Does ESCP Europe take care of the visa application? Do you provide invitation letters?

    You are in charge of your VISA application. ESCP can provide invitation letters if necessary.

  • Why do you need a copy of my passport?

    We need your passport details for certain visits (e.g. European Parliament in Brussels) or to book hotel accommodation or internal flights (e.g. Global Horizons Seminar)

  • I'd like to extend my stay: Do you offer a special rate? Who should I contact?

    We cannot offer a special rate. But you can contact your programme manager who will be able to give you the hotel details or the contact of our travel agency.

  • How do I organise my trip for each seminar?

    Flight or train tickets bookings and visa requirements are the participant's responsibility and is at his/her expense.

  • Do I have to plan lunches and dinners during the seminars?

    For every seminar, lunches are included from Monday to Friday.

GRADES AND VALIDATION OF CREDITS

  • Do I need to validate each course or is there a compensation between courses?

    Yes, each course of the EMBA needs to be validated in order to obtain all required ECTS and to obtain your diploma.

  • What happens if I don't validate a course?

    If you fail a course (below 10 points), you will need to do a resit assignment.

  • Where can I see my grades?

    You grades are available on MySchool, in your Dashboard. Please note that in order to see your grade, you must complete the feedback form first!

  • How many ECTS credits are required?

    The EMBA confers 120 ECTS, distributed across courses, electives, seminars, the ICP, and thesis. 30 ECTS are awarded for previous professional experience (via a reflection paper).

COACHING

  • How should I choose my coach?

    We recommend you to choose a coach who coaches in your mother tongue or in a language in which you are fluent. If possible choose a coach with whom you can meet in person. Check the expertise of the coach - do his/her fields of expertise match your coaching needs?

  • Can I split my 4 coaching hours on several coaches?

    Yes you can split your coaching hours on 2 coaches, but we recommend you to do all 4 hours with one coach.

  • Can I take more than 4 coaching hours?

    The 4 coaching hours are part of your programme and taken into charge by ESCP Business School. Should you wish to continue the coaching with your coach you can of course add coaching sessions at your own expense.

  • What can I expect from the coaching?

    The coaching can help you to improve/change or sometimes only get an awareness of certain aspects of your professional/personal life. Before the coaching you should define together with your coach which aspects you want to treat during the 4 hours.

COMPETENCE DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS

  • Are there pre-readings for workshops?

    For some workshops you need to do some pre-work or pre-readings. You can find this information in the workshop description.

  • Can there be assignments?

    No, for workshops we do not ask for assignments. You might be required to do some pre-readings/pre-work.

  • Do I get credits for workshops?

    No, there are no ECTS credits for workshops. They are not part of the academic requirements of the Executive MBA.

  • How many workshops can I choose?

    You can enroll to up to 4 workshops.

  • What should I do if I end up on the waiting list for a workshop?

    If you didn’t get a seat in one of your preferred workshops, try to see if the same workshop or a similar workshop is proposed at another date.

LOGISTICS and ADMINISTRATION

  • Can I book a room for a group work?

    Room bookings are possible within the availability of rooms at ESCP. Shoud you need a room for a group work, ask your programme manager at least 1 week in advance to book a room for you.

  • I have a dietary restriction: Who should I inform?

    We ask you at the beginning of your programme if you have dietary restrictions. Should your dietary situation evolve, please inform your federal programme mananager.

  • I changed my personal/contact/job details, who should I inform?

    Please inform your Federal Programme Managers of any changes.

  • Where can I find a certificate of enrollment?

    You can ask your certificate of enrollment to your Federal Programme Managers.

CLASS REPS

  • What is the role of a class rep?

    1. Acting as an interface between the class and the Dean and Executive MBA administration gathering feedback from the class on academic issues, programme administration and logistics, questions and comments of general interest to the class or the programme;
      meeting with the Dean and the Executive MBA administrative staff on a regular basis to discuss class comments and issues;
      communicating to the class the Dean’s conclusions, suggestions and solutions.Enhancing the class social dynamics
    2. Enhancing the class social dynamics.
      This includes the organisation of gatherings in order to facilitate the networking within the class.
  • Are the class reps elected for the duration of the EMBA or are they still class reps after the graduation?

    The class reps are elected as representatives of their cohort for the entire period of the programme. During the Closing Seminar in Madrid you will elect 4 class representatives who will represent your whole EMBA class after graduation.

OTHER

  • Are there any expenses to expect during the programme other than the tuition fees?

    Yes, you should take into account the following expenses:

    • Travel fees: Any travel expenses like flight or train tickets, public transport or cabs are at your expense.
    • Accommodation fees: While you attend an electives a core course or a seminar that takes place on an ESCP campus (Seminar 1 Paris, Seminar 5 Madrid), you are in charge to organise your accommodation. For the seminars 2: Brussels, 3: Regional Leadership and 4: US, ESCP takes care of your hotel reservation
    • Food costs: During seminars and course modules we provide you with coffee breaks and on full days also with lunches. Diners are not included, except when specified for social events.
